Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa is our ‘go to’ COUGH SYRUP!!!!
Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa is our favourite traditional remedy for sore throat and cough. Most importantly it has a pleasant taste to it and many patients have indicated that they have no trouble administering it to their children. It is quickly becoming one of our most frequently loved remedies by our patients, especially children.
Pei Pa Koa was formulated over 400 years ago, containing a concoction of 15 herbs. It contains NO alcohol, artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives. Pharmacological studies in 1994 (I know 22 years ago), indicated that Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa “had significant cough relieving and sputum removing effects”. Who doesn’t love a bit of sputum removal when you are all congested up?
Nin Jiom Medicine Manufactory is the Hong Kong company behind the syrup. They recently recorded annual sales of almost HK$350 million, which is 59.2 million Australian, for COUGH SYRUP!!!. The company is stated as saying “People always get a cough or sore throat regardless of whether the economy is doing well or not, so we are quite lucky in that regard”.
Pei Pa Koa is easily administered and can be taken straight from the bottle. You can also make it into a tea, by adding a tablespoon to a mug of hot water.
