When the baby finally arrives and motherhood thrust upon us, it can often be an overwhelming experience. At AcuHealth, we understand that difficulties in breastfeeding can be incredibly disheartening and work with you in a supportive environment to help overcome these problems.

Engorged Breasts can often occur only a couple days after delivery, when the milk changes from colostrum to breast milk.  Due to the increased blood supply to the breasts and the start of the flow of breast milk, the breasts can become engorged, hard, and painful.

Insufficient lactation can be a very stressful, frustrating and upsetting time, especially for new mothers.  Chinese medicine views that lack of milk supply can be due to many factors including nutrition, inadequate rest and emotions.

Mastitis can result from either a blocked milk duct within the breast or from bacteria that enters the breast, often through a cracked nipple.  It is important that patients suffering from mastitis are also under the care of a doctor or midwife, as antibiotics are generally needed.
