Sleep Disorders

Sleep is critical to maintain health, with good quality sleep being one of the most important components of a healthy life.  The effects of lack of sleep pose a serious threat to our wellbeing, including depression and mental fatigue. 

Acupuncture is a technique that has been consistently proven to be effective for the overall improvement of sleep quality, without the side effects of prescription medications.  Acupuncture is commonly used in China for the treatment of insomnia and has become an increasingly popular method to treat many sleep disorders.  

Types of sleep disturbances found in both children and adults may include; Insomnia, night terrors, dream-disturbed sleep, bed-wetting, restless leg syndrome, hot flushes, night sweats, pain which stops the patient from getting proper/adequate rest.

Whilst insomnia and many other sleep disturbances are on the rise, a report in 2004 found that acupuncture increased night-time melatonin production and total sleep time.  At AcuHealth we recognise the importance of adequate sleep for physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.
